Whale Watching
Whale Watching and Redonda Mountain Excursion
Experience a unique whale watching moment in the Dominican Republic 🐋
Each year, between January and March, over 300 humpback whales migrate from the North Atlantic to join the warm and protected waters of Samaná Bay. This natural sanctuary is one of the best spots in the world to see whales, particularly females accompanied by their calves and males in full courtship display.
You will have the chance to observe these majestic marine mammals in their natural environment, sometimes performing spectacular jumps out of the water, striking the ocean with their pectoral fins or showcasing their tail fins. An unforgettable aquatic ballet.
This unique experience includes a small-group navigation aboard a motorized catamaran, designed for whale watching, accompanied by passionate guides who will reveal all the secrets of these magnificent cetaceans.
An ethical excursion, respectful of observation rules, for a true encounter with the marine wildlife of the Dominican Republic.
🐋 Morning at Sea: Meeting the Humpback Whales in Samana Bay
Departure at dawn for an unforgettable adventure
Your day begins at 7:00 AM from Bayahibe (or 8:00 AM from Punta Cana), accompanied by a passionate English-speaking guide. Destination: the Miches region, on the northeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, known for its still-preserved nature, its calm, warm waters, and its peaceful atmosphere, far from mass tourism. This bay provides the ideal environment for humpback whale watching.
Before boarding, enjoy a well-deserved local breakfast with views of the lush mountains of Miches.
Boarding on a motorized catamaran
Next, you will board a motorized catamaran with a maximum capacity of 40 people, comfortable and secure, adapted for whale-watching excursions.
The atmosphere on board is friendly and respectful of the marine life. For nearly 3 hours of navigation, you will be guided through the waters of the Samana Bay, a true marine sanctuary for many species.
Each winter, from January to March, over 300 humpback whales leave the icy waters of the North Atlantic to join the warm, protected waters of the bay. This migratory phenomenon offers visitors a unique and emotional experience: watching the males engage in spectacular displays, hearing the whale songs, spotting the tail flukes as they emerge from the water, or witnessing mothers swimming peacefully with their calves.
Your guide will share fascinating information about these marine mammals.
🏞️ Afternoon: Climb to Redonda Mountain and Breathtaking Views
Lunch in a typical restaurant
After a morning full of emotions, you will return to solid ground to enjoy a traditional Dominican lunch at a local restaurant. The menu includes: rice, chicken, salads, tropical fruits, and local drinks. A perfect moment to share your feelings about this sea excursion and immerse yourself a little more in the local culture.
On the way to a magical summit
After lunch, you will board a Safari truck that will take you up to Redonda Mountain, perched nearly 300 meters above sea level. This hill overlooks both the Miches Bay, the Limón Lagoon, and the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the most photogenic spots in the Dominican Republic, known for its 360° views and famous swings in the open air!
Unusual and memorable photos
At the summit, you will enjoy a magical atmosphere, between sky and sea. Whether you are a couple, with friends, or family, you can capture the moment with original photos: on a suspended hammock, swinging in the air, or simply in front of a breathtaking view. On clear days, you will even see the distant Eastern mountain range.
A moment of relaxation and connection to nature
Redonda Mountain is also a peaceful and contemplative place. You will experience a deep connection with nature, surrounded by fresh air, the sea breeze, and postcard-like landscapes.
You will then continue the route, filled with memories, for your return to your hotel around 6:00 p.m..
